Partnership Between Robinson and NEWYA

Robinson NEWYA partnership

We are proud to be part of a remarkable collaboration that is paving the way for Wisconsin’s future leaders and innovators. The partnership between Robinson and the Northeast Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship (NEWYA) program is a testament to our commitment to shaping tomorrow’s workforce.

Let’s explore the significance of this partnership, the opportunities it creates for teens and young adults, and the positive impacts on our community.

What is NEWYA?

The Northeast Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship (NEWYA) Consortium, under the guidance of the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, delivers a state-certified, work-based learning program to districts throughout our region. It offers high school juniors and seniors the chance to engage in a one- or two-year work-based learning experience. As a result, NEWYA connects students with local employers, merging education with real-world industry experience.

Youth Apprenticeship is about much more than just acquiring skills. Youth Apprenticeships allow students to explore career interests, earn academic credit, gain wages, and build essential relationships with career coaches and business mentors. Through this program, students enjoy valuable insights and practical experience across more than 75 career pathways in 11 career clusters offered by the NEWYA Consortium.

About Our Partnership with NEWYA

Robinson proudly partners with NEWYA, offering students a dynamic learning environment where academics meet on-the-job training. By integrating high school students into our operations, we are helping them foster skill development and cultivating a workforce that is ready to tackle future industry challenges.

Earlier this month, Fox 11 News featured one of our youth apprentices – James Smith, a senior at Green Bay East High School – and his electrical supervisor and Robinson employee, Nolan Hornburg. James is an excellent example of the transformation that this program can initiate in young people. Before he even finishes high school, he has a headstart on his electrician career, is earning a solid paycheck, and will have a credential for his resume.

We view this partnership as a way to create positive ripple effects in Wisconsin as well as long-lasting, valuable job experiences for talented young people. In fact, many of the students who begin their journeys with us through NEWYA choose to continue their careers at Robinson after graduation. These students also further their education at area technical schools, which we support through our college tuition reimbursement program.

Recognizing the importance of community-driven education, GiveBIG Green Bay campaign chose NEWYA for the 2025 give-back campaign on February 19-20, 2025. This significant endorsement reflects the excellence of the program and amplifies our collaborative efforts to foster youth talent!

Thank You for Supporting NEWYA

NEWYA exemplifies what can be achieved when local industry leaders and educational programs work hand-in-hand. By investing in our youth today, we are not only giving back to the community but also ensuring a robust, skilled, and adaptable workforce for the future.
